Utah is 13-4 all-time in bowl games, and 2-0 in the Sun Bowl.

Kyle Whittingham goes to 7-1 in bowl games.

Utah has played two overtime game this season. The Utes also went into overtime against Washington State (a 30-27 win). It is the first time Utah has gone into overtime in a bowl game in its history.

John White set a new single-season rushing record at Utah with 1,519 yards. He had 115 yards in the game, with Utah going to 8-0 when White rushes for over 100 yards. White was named the C.M. Hendricks Most Valuable Player.

With 26 carries, John White has 316 for the season to set a new Utah record. He breaks the previous record of 309 set by Carl Monroe in 1982.

John White scored his 15th rushing touchdown of the season with an eight-yard run in overtime, also a new school record.

Jon Hays was 15-for-31 with a career-high three touchdown passes. Hays threw an interception in the third quarter, his first pick in six games (he had not thrown a pick since throwing three interceptions against Cal on Oct. 22).

DeVonte Christopher led Utah in receiving with four catches for 74 yards. He had a 28-yard touchdown catch to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

Shawn Asiata scored his second touchdown of the season with a one-yard reception in the first quarter. He had a career-high 57 yards receiving on five catches.

Kendrick Moeai scored his first touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard reception.

Chaz Walker led Utah in tackles with 15, reaching double figures in tackles for the sixth time this season. He led Utah in tackles in eight games this year.

Derrick Shelby and Tevita Finau each had a career-high 10 tackles. Also in double figure tackles was Matt Martinez with 11.

Star Lotulelei, who had six tackles and a fumble recovery, was selected as the Jimmy Rogers, Jr. Most Valuable Lineman.

Coleman Petersen tied for fourth all-time at Utah in field goals with his 25-yard field goal in the second quarter. He is 18-for-25 in field goals. His 25 attempts rank second all-time at Utah.

DeVonte Christopher's 68-yard kickoff return in the third quarter is the longest of his career. He had two returns for 97 yards. Christopher was named the game's John Folmer Most Valuable Special Teams Player.

Griff McNabb had a career-high 41 yards in punt returns (two returns). He had career-long 31-yard return.

Sean Sellwood dropped two of his eight punts inside the 20-yard line, and had three punts of 50-plus yards.

Greg Bird made his first career start at safety.
