CAMP WEEK 2

The Utes will tackle for the first time this spring starting Tuesday, Mar. 25. They'll return to non-tackle drills on Thursday before hitting again on Saturday. Outdoor practices are open to the public. Practice locations will be announced each day.

CAMP NOTES

Projected left tackle Andrew Albers should return to the field this week and will practice at both offensive tackle positions. In Albers' absence, J.J. Dielman got most of the reps at left tackle last week ... While they haven't changed positions, safety Eric Rowe is spending some of his time at cornerback and Micah Thomas is playing at both quarterback and wide receiver ... Replacing injured starting defensive tackle Viliseni Fauonuku on the new depth chart is redshirt freshman Filipo Mokofisi, who weighs in at 270--up 20 pounds from last year. Sliding inside from end to tackle to back up Mokofisi is Clint Shepard ... Getting good reviews after the first week of camp at running back were redshirt freshman Troy McCormick and JC transfer Devontae Booker, while sophomores who impressed during opening week included Brian Allen at wide receiver and Reggie Porter and Justin Thomas at cornerback ... Joseph Bryant is back at safety after trying out linebacker.

SPRING SIDELINES

New to the inactive list is defensive tackle Viliseni Fauonuku. In addition to Fauonuku (who could return before camp ends), the Utes are playing without these projected starters and key backups in the spring (all are expected to be available for fall camp): right guard Junior Salt, linebacker Jason Whittingham and defensive tackle Sese Ianu, defensive tackle Stevie Tu'ikolovatu, safety Tevin Carter, running back Lucky Radley, defensive lineman Sam Tevi and offensive lineman Derek Tuimauga.
