COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--The Mountain West Conference office released the 2010 football schedule today, and for the second straight year, Utah will kick off the MWC season. The Utes will open against Pittsburgh on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Rice-Eccles Stadium. The rest of the league gets underway on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Utah's home schedule includes three teams that finished the 2009 season ranked in the Top 20: No. 15 Pittsburgh (Sept. 2), No. 6 TCU (Nov. 6) and No. 12 Brigham Young (Nov. 27). The Utes, who finished No. 18 in both polls last fall, will play six teams that played in bowl games a year ago: Pitt, TCU, BYU, Iowa State (Oct. 9), Wyoming (Oct. 16) and Air Force (Oct. 30).

Utah's non-conference schedule includes BCS opponents Pittsburgh, Iowa State and Notre Dame (Nov. 13), as well as San Jose State (Sept. 25).

The Utes open conference play on the second week of the season, hosting UNLV on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. They will close regular season play against BYU in Rice-Eccles Stadium on Nov. 27. Utah's annual bye week falls on Oct. 2.

At least 10 of Utah's 12 games will be televised, with the game times and TV for games against San Jose State and Iowa State to be determined. The entire slate of games on VERSUS, CBS College Sports Network and The Mtn. will be produced in high-definition (HD). VERSUS and CBS College Sports Network are widely available on cable systems across the country and via satellite on DIRECTV (VERSUS-Channel 603/CBS C-Channel 613). Dish Network carries VERSUS on Channel 151 and CBS C on Channel 152) and has not yet added The Mtn. to its lineup. The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV (Channel 616) and on numerous cable operators representing over 200 municipalities in nine states.
