Utah is down to the last two weeks of spring football camp and practices this week are scheduled for Tuesday (3-5 p.m.) and Thursday (3-5 p.m.), with a scrimmage on Saturday (10 a.m.-noon). All outdoor practices and scrimmages during spring ball are open to the public.

Making his first appearance on the running back depth chart is former fullback Karl Williams, who is neck-and-neck with James Poole and Lucky Radley for the backup job behind starter Kelvin York ... Moana Ofahengaue, a 2012 signee who joined the team this spring, is No. 3 at left end this week and Cameron Taylor has moved into the backup spot behind Hunter Dimick at right end. The DE lineup will shuffle again in the fall when starters Trevor Reilly and Nate Orchard return from injury ... Brian Blechen, Utah's starting strong safety since his true freshman season (with the exception of four starts at linebacker in 2011), is on the current depth chart as the No. 1 rover linebacker. The coaches would like Blechen to spend most of his time at linebacker and he is now listed as a linebacker/safety on the roster. Blechen is practicing in a limited role this spring.

In the first scrimmage of the spring last week, backup running backs James Poole (12 rushes for 68 yards and 3 touchdowns) and Lucky Radley (10 rushes for 47 yards and 1 TD) got the bulk of the carries ... All three quarterback candidates made some big plays. Starter Travis Wilson finished 11-of-25 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown (2 INT). Adam Shulz completed 13-of -22 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns (2 INT), while true freshman Brandon Cox was 7-of-10 passing for 66 yards and also rushed seven times for 50 yards and a touchdown ... Dres Anderson had the hot hand for the receivers, catching six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown ... Safety Tyron Morris-Edwards sparked the defense with an 83-yard interception return for a touchdown and a TFL ... Corner Keith McGill had four pass breakups ... Kickers Andy Phillips and Jamie Sutcliffe, who are listed as co-starters, were both 3-of-5 in field goal attempts. Phillips' long make was from 30 yards out, while Sutcliffe connected on a 47-yarder.

Players out for the spring with injuries are defensive ends Nate Orchard, Trevor Reilly and Jason Whittingham; defensive backs Wykie Freeman, Joseph Bryant and Darchon Taggart and linebacker Reshawn Hooker. The plan for the upcoming season is to move Whittingham--who started at linebacker last season as a redshirt freshman--to defensive end, while Reilly will continue to play both end and linebacker.
