WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--
Utah's Aug. 28 game vs. Idaho State will kick off the 2014 Pac-12 football season, the Pac-12 Conference and television partners ESPN, FOX and Pac-12 Networks announced today. The partners released the television selections for the first three weeks of the 2014 football season, as well as all Thursday and Friday games.
The Utah-Idaho State game at 5:30 p.m. MDT in Rice-Eccles Stadium will be televised on Pac-12 Networks and is the first of three Pac-12 games on Thursday, Aug. 28. Also announced today was the time and TV for Utah's Sept. 6 home game against Fresno State (1 p.m. MDT/Pac-12 Networks) and its Thursday, Oct. 16 game against Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. (7 p.m. PDT/FOX Sports 1).
Starting with week four, all remaining Pac-12 Saturday home game times and television selections will be announced 12 or six days in advance. Additional non-conference road games will be televised as part of other conference or institution television packages. Those conferences and institutions will release their 2014 television schedule in the coming weeks. It is expected that every game involving a Pac-12 team will be televised this season.
ESPN, FOX, and Pac-12 Networks will televise the entire 80-game Pac-12 home football schedule in 2014, with Pac-12 Networks airing 35 Pac-12 home games and ESPN and FOX combining to televise 45 games from Pac-12 sites.
"The Pac-12 will feature some of the top teams and most exciting student-athletes in the nation this season," said Commissioner Larry Scott. "We are thrilled to offer fans the best television coverage of their favorite teams all season long on Pac-12 Networks, ESPN and FOX."
The television arrangement with ESPN and FOX calls for Pac-12 football to receive full national distribution of each game. ESPN will televise on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ABC, while FOX will air its games on FOX or FOX Sports 1 and simulcast several games on FOX Deportes. FOX will carry the Pac-12 Football Championship Game on Friday, Dec. 5.
