Utah senior defensive tackle Star Lotulelei has made his fourth preseason watch list while senior wide receiver DeVonte Christopher has earned a place on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Lotulelei's latest preseason recognition comes from the Rotary Lombardi Award, given to the nation's top college lineman or linebacker. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.
Lotulelei's other preseason watch lists include the Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which both honor the NCAA's top defensive player, as well as the Outland Trophy, which recognizes the outstanding interior lineman.
Lotulelei was the Pac-12's best defensive lineman in 2011, making first-team all-conference and winning the league's Morris Award. He has been named a preseason first-team All-American by Phil Steele and Blue Ribbon Football Yearbook and is Blue Ribbon's preseason Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Some analysts have projected the 6'4", 325 pound senior as the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL draft.
Christopher, Utah's leading receiver for the past two seasons, has five career 100-yard games. In 11 games last year (he missed two games with an ankle injury), he caught a team-high 42 passes for 663 yards and five touchdowns. Christopher caught the game-tying touchdown pass in the Sun Bowl on fourth-and-14 and Utah went on to beat Georgia Tech in overtime.
White is being considered for the Maxwell Award, given to the outstanding collegiate football player, Stevens is a nominee for the Rimington Trophy for outstanding center and Sean Sellwood is up for the Ray Guy Award, given to the best punter.
