The Ute football team held a two-hour practice in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon to open its 2010 preseason camp. "It was mostly a teaching day," said head coach Kyle Whittingham. "We did a lot of install, in terms of schemes, on both offense and defense. It was a good first day," he added.
The coaches got their first look at 14 members of the most recent signing class, and Whittingham cited wide receiver Reggie Dunn ("he is really, really fast"), running back Lucky Radley and defensive end Joe Kruger as three who stood out.
Whittingham was particularly pleased with the passing drills, saying that "the quarterbacks and receivers did a nice job of pitch and catch." At the conclusion of practice, starting quarterback Jordan Wynn was in high demand with the large media gathering, which also interviewed a dozen of his teammates.
