Utah enters its third and final week of fall camp and will conduct practices from Monday-Saturday. The final double-day practices will be held on Monday and Wednesday. All morning practices will have media availability, but evening practices on Monday and Wednesday will be closed. There are significant changes to this week's practice/media observation times. Please see sidebar on this page for times and locations. Times are subject to change.

The annual Ute Fan Fest is set for Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The event is free to the public and and all 18 Ute intercollegiate teams will participate ... Limited numbers of single-game tickets are still available for all Utah home games and may be purchased at UtahUtes.com or by calling the ticket office at 801-581-UTIX. Around 150 tickets remain for the Utah State opener on Aug. 29. Numbers vary for the other six home games. All seats are reserved ... The new Spence & Cleone Eccles Football Center was dedicated on Aug. 15. A public tour will be conducted at a later date to be determined.

Travis Wilson, Jeremiah Tofaeono, Tenny Palepoi and Trevor Reilly have been elected as team captains ... Sophomore James Poole, a JC transfer who redshirted last season at Utah, has edged ahead of Lucky Radley and Karl Williams to claim the No. 2 spot behind starting running back Kelvin York. Poole, who is having a great fall camp, has also earned a place on the depth chart on both punt and kickoff returns ... Depending on the defensive alignment, senior Trevor Reilly will start at either right end or stud linebacker ... Tenny Palepoi is the uncontested starter at one tackle, but there's still a three-way battle for the other starting tackle position between LT Tuipulotu, Sese Ianu and Viliseni Fauonuku ... While freshman Micah Thomas volunteered to practice with the safeties late last week when injuries depleted the defensive backfield, and was playing with the "two's," he was back practicing with the quarterbacks as of Monday morning (Aug. 19) ... The top two corners are Justin Thomas and Keith McGill. When the Utes put five defensive backs on the field, Thomas will start at nickel and McGill and Davion Orphey will start at the corners.

Freshman Andy Phillips has won the job as Utah's starting placekicker. The 24-year-old Phillips, a former five-year member of the U.S. Ski Team (2007-11), has never played in a competitive football game. Until he walked onto the Utah football team last fall, his kicking experience was limited to soccer, which he played in high school before quitting the sport to devote his time to alpine skiing.

Safety Tevin Carter did not qualify academically and will not join the team this fall ... Sharrieff Shah, Jr., son of Utah cornerbacks coach Sharrieff Shah, began practicing with the team last week. A freshman linebacker, Shah, Jr. is a Utah State transfer. He is the second coach's son to join the team during fall camp. The other is freshman linebacker Alex Whittingham, son of head coach Kyle Whittingham ... Lost to season-ending foot injuries are defensive lineman Stevie Tu'ikolovatu and running back Jarrell Oliver.
