SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior center Zane Taylor has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior in eligibility, playing for a Football Bowl Championship program, and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Taylor, a preseason all-Mountain West Conference selection, made the second-team as a junior and was honorable mention all-MWC in 2007.

Taylor is a MWC Scholar-Athlete and three-time academic all-conference selection who carries above a 3.50 GPA in health education. He has been involved heavily in the community in his hometown of Moab, Utah.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season.

Utah has had a finalist for the award each of the past two seasons. All-America kicker/punter Louie Sakoda was a 2008 finalist while All-America offensive tackle Zane Beadles was a 2009 finalist.
