This Week: The Utah Men's Golf team travels to St. George, Utah to compete in the Utah Collegiate Challenge. The two day event runs from Mon., Nov. 10 through Tues., Nov. 11. The tournament includes Utah in-state golf squad's Brigham Young, Utah State and Weber State.
About the Utes: Utah junior Jon Morgan led the Utes to a third place overall finish by winning the Northridge Invitational in Northridge, Calif. Morgan shot three rounds of 74 to give him a total of 222, good for six over par and the victory. Morgan prepped at Skyline High School in Salt Lake. Utah's Third place finish marks their best team placing this year. The Utes shot a team three round total of 915, to finish seven shots off the lead. John Owen also had an outstanding tournament finishing tied for 18th. Gregg Oliphant was Utah's next best finisher at 28th, ending just three strokes behind Owen. Chris Riding (35th) and Brock Padilla (47th) rounded out the lineup for the Utes.
Head Coach Wayne Fisher Says: "It was a fun tournament. It was good to see Jon win. He played great. We are moving in the right direction."
A Look Ahead: The Utah Collegiate Challenge marks the final tournament of the Utes fall season. The next time they take the course will be in Honolulu, Hawaii at the John Burns Intercollegiate. The highly touted tournament runs from Feb. 17-20.
