Assistant Coach

Former Utah standout Chris Gresh is entering his first season on the Utah coaching staff.

"[The addition of Gresh] is going to be great for our program," head coach Randall McCracken said. "We are lucky to finally be able to hire a full-time assistant coach. Changes in collegiate golf --- allowing two coaches to recruit off campus at the same time and having two coaches coaching during tournaments --- have made it essential for us to have an assistant to keep up with our competition. Chris's experience as a college player, and currently as a professional golfer, will greatly benefit our program."

Gresh, a native of Salt Lake City, played for the Utes for four seasons from 2004-2008 and was one of the squad's most consistent players throughout his career.

During his senior season, Gresh was Utah's second-highest finisher in five meets. He tied for 18th place at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships at five-over-par (218) on the Tuscon Omni National course.

In 2006-07, Gresh played 28 rounds in 10 tournaments and recorded four top-25 finishes with a low round of 66 at the District 7 Shootout. In 2005-06, he played 35 rounds in 12 tournaments for a stroke average of 73.74. As a freshman, he placed 17th at the 2005 MWC Championships.

Prior to Utah, Gresh earned first-team all-state honors in 2004 as a member of the Cottonwood High School team that won the regional championship three times.

Along with his new coaching duties, Gresh also plays golf professionally and is an assistant golf professional at River Oaks Golf Course. Gresh is on track to graduate in December with a degree in Sport Management.

"I'm looking forward to working with this young and talented team," Gresh said. "I am excited about building for the future."
