Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Utah golf team currently sits in 13th after the first day of play at the Arizona Intercollegiate. After posting a team score of 306 in the first round at the Golf Club at Vistoso, second round was suspended due to darkness.
Sophomore Brandon Kida led the Utes with a 74 in the first round, which put him in a tie for 31st. Junior Daniel Engle shot a 75 in the first round, while Junior Benjamin Bankhead posted a 77. Sophomore Gentry Hicks carded an 80, and redshirt Freshman Jonathon Thomas struggled to a 90.
When play was suspended due to darkness, most of the field had between three and five holes remaining. The second round will resume with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m., with the final round beginning immediately after.
