SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic with an eight-over 288, the team's best round of the tournament. The Utes finished 19th overall with a 43-over 883 in the two-day tournament held at the 70-par Talking Stick Golf Club. New Mexico State placed first with a 1-under 836.
Dustin Pimm shot a one-under 69 in the final round, his best of the tournament, to finish with a four-over 214. Pimm finished tied for 32nd overall. Chris Gresh and Nick Micek both tied for 70th with an 11-over 221. Gresh shot a four-over 74 in the final round, while Micek posted his best round of the tournament, a two-over 72.
Freshman Chance Cota carded his best round of the tournament, a three-over 73, to finish with a 24-over 234. Cota finished 105th overall. Fellow freshman Mike Branca struggled in the final round, shooting a 15-over 85 to finish at 30-over par (240). Branca placed 108th overall.
The Utes return to Utah to compete in the Cougar Classic this Friday and Saturday at the Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah.
