PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the final day of competition at the 2005 Ping Cougar Classic with a score of 289 (+1) to finish 16th overall with a three-round score of 872 (+8) at the 72-par Riverside Golf Course.
Senior Ashdon Woods was the top finisher for Utah, shooting a one-under par 71 in the final round to finish at four-under par overall (212). Woods placed tied for 24th overall. Steve Newren tallied a 69 (-3) in the final round to finish three strokes behind Woods at 215 (-1).
Freshman Dustin Pimm shot another 76 (+4) in the final round, after finishing the first round at two-under par (70) and tallying a 76 in the second round also. Pimm finished tied for 75th with a three-round score of 222 (+6). Fellow freshman Chris Gresh repeated his score of 73 (+1) in the final round to finish the day tied for 90th with a score of 227 (+11).
Senior Jake Sowby rounds out the Utes scorers, finishing the final round with a four-over par 76 and an overall score of 229 (+13) to finish tied for 96th.
The Utes travel next to Sunriver, Ore., to compete in the MWC Championships April 28-30.
