LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Utah golf team sits in fifth after day one at the Pac-12 Conference Championship. The Utes posted a team score of eight-over par 358 in the first round followed by a 371 in the second, for a first-day total of 729 at the Los Angeles Country Club.
All six Utes currently sit in a top-50 position on the individual leaderboard, led by junior Daniel Engle, who is tied for 11th.
Engle carded a career-low three-under par 67 in round one and followed up with a 74 in round two, for a total of 141. He bested his previous career low of one-under 69 that he logged in the second round of the Cowboy Classic, April 9.
Sophomore Brandon Kida is tied for 31st with a six-over par 146 (72-74), while junior Casey Halliday posted a seven-over par 147 (72-75), and is tied for 34th. Junior Benjamin Bankhead registered a 148 (76-72) and is tied for 42nd. In the opening round, Bankhead came within inches of his second hole-in-one of the year, nearly acing the par-three fourth hole.
Round three will begin Tuesday at 8:00 am PST, and the final round of play will begin Wednesday at 8:00 am PST.
