LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Utah golf team wrapped up the the Pac-12 Conference Championship at the Los Angeles Country Club Wednesday. The Utes posted a final team score of 1513 (358-371-393-391) to finish 12th.
Freshman Jonathon Thomas and sophomore Gentry Hicks each carded a 77 in the final round to lead the Utes, each finishing with final scores of 306. Thomas went 74-76-80-76, while Hicks carded scores of 73-76-80-77. Junior Casey Halliday came in at 309 (72-75-80-82).
Utah was in fifth place after Monday's first and second rounds, but slid down the leaderboard during Tuesday's third round and was unable to recover. California captured the team championship and saw its players earn both the medalist and second-place positions individually.
The Pac-12 Men's Golf Championships will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks (tape delay), starting Saturday, May 11, at 12 p.m. MT.
This Championship marks the last event of the 2012-13 season. The Utes will return to action in fall 2013.
