KAUA'I, Hawaii - The University of Utah golf team wrapped up its final tournament of the fall at the Princeville Makai Golf Club Wednesday. The squad finished in 16th place after posting identical second and third round scores of 293, for a ten-over-par total of 874.
"This was a great tournament to play," said head coach Randall McCracken. "We wish we would have played better golf. We had some great individual scores; J.T scored well and hung in there, Jack struggled in the second round but had two good rounds of 69 and 70 and Daniel had a nice round too. But its a team effort and the team score isn't coming together. Hopefully that starts clicking and we can make a lot of improvements come spring."
Sophomore Jonathon Thomas matched his second-round score of 71 in the third round, tying for 35th with a two-under score of 214 (72-71-71). Senior Daniel Engle swung a 77 in the third round to finish at 218 (72-69-77) to tie for 58th.
The Utes tee off the spring season at the Snowman Getaway in Chandler, Ariz., Feb. 24-25, 2014.
