THIS WEEK:

The University of Utah golf team will begin the spring season on Feb. 18-20, at the John Burns Intercollegiate, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Utah is coming off a fall season with three second-place finishes. The lineup for the team this week will include Garrett Clegg, Luke Swilor, Casey Fowles, Carl Jensen and Steve Newren. The tournament will be hosted by the University of Hawaii.

LOOKING BACK AT THE FALL SEASON:

The Utes finished second in three of the six tournaments they competed in. Utah's second-place finishes came at the Falcon Invitational on Sep. 19-21, the Wolf Pack Invitational on Oct. 6-7 and the Countrywide Invitational on Oct. 20-21.

Along with strong team finishes, several individuals had noteworthy performances over the fall. Garrett Clegg won the Wolf Pack Invitational, as he shot an 11-under, 205. Clegg also placed second at the Countrywide Invitational. Luke Swilor finished second at the Falcon Invitational with a six-under, 210.

UTE NOTES:

Last year, Utah finished 10th at the John Burns Intercollegiate with a team score of 864. Casey Fowles was the top Ute, as he shot a 213, finishing 12th individually.

Garrett Clegg is ranked 23rd in the nation for college golfers in the Golfstat cup standings. Clegg is also 92nd in the GolfWeek individual standings. Casey Fowles and Luke Swilor are each included in the GolfWeek top 300.

The Utes continue to excel both on and off the golf course. The team placed four golfers on the fall semester honor roll, including Chace Bickmore, Garrett Clegg, Carl Jensen and Luke Swilor.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Wayne Fisher:

"Hawaii is a great place to start the spring season. We may be at a slight disadvantage, not being able to practice the last two months because of the weather here. This team has worked very hard and following a good fall we hope to carry over a good deal of confidence. This should be a good test to show us where we are at."
