SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah golf team is gearing up for the 11th annual University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 8-9. The tournament will be played on the par-70, 7,133-yard North Course at Talking Stick Country Club.
The first two rounds of the tournament will played on Monday and the final round will be completed on Tuesday. Both days will begin with a 7:30 a.m. PST shotgun start.
The Utes will face 23 other teams at the event, including defending champion Kansas State, who won the 2012 title with a 14-under par 826 (268-277-281). Also appearing on the greens will be 24th-ranked St. Mary's, as well as fellow Pac-12 squads Arizona and Colorado.
Ute History at the Cowboy Classic
Utah has competed in eight of the 10 previous Cowboy Classics. The Utes' best finish at the event came in 2007 when the squad finished second with a one-over par 841 (276-282-283). Dustin Pimm led the team with a one-under par 209 (69-70-70).
Last Time Out
Junior Casey Halliday was the low Ute at the Oregon Duck Invitational, Mar. 25-26, tying for 48th with a three-round total of nine-over par 225 (77-76-72).
