SALT LAKE CITY - Four members of the University of Utah golf team have earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, the conference office announced recently. Sophomore Ben Bankhead (3.51 GPA, undeclared) was a second-team choice while three other Utes earned honorable mention selection.

"It's a great thing to see more than a third of our team earn academic honors," said Utah head coach Randall McCracken. "Our freshmen did an outstanding job as well and it could have been even higher if they were eligible. We take pride in our work in the classroom and that's starting to show. To have four players earn academic honors in our first year in the Pac-12 is a great achievement."

Earning honorable mention selections were juniors Andrew Etzel and Joe Webber along with sophomore Daniel Engle.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
