SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf squad travels to Erie, Colo., for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The tournament, hosted by Pac-12 rival Colorado, will be played on the par-72, 7,676-yard Colorado National Golf Club course.
The three-round, 54-hole tournament is slated to begin Monday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m., for the first and second rounds. The final round will be played Tuesday.
Utah will compete against 14 teams, including conference opponents Colorado, Oregon State and Washington State, as well as Air Force, Campbell, Denver, Gonzaga, Houston Baptist, Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Texas State and Wyoming.

The Utes posted a final score of 883 (287-299-297) to finish 14th. Casey Halliday lead the squad after shooting a career-low score of 70 in the final round for a total mark of 216 (71-75-70) and a 27th-place finish. Daniel Engle tied for 43rd, posting a score of 220 (71-76-73), while Gentry Hicks shot 222 (71-74-77), tying for 52nd. Ben Bankhead finished with a final score of 226 (74-75-77), tying for 67th and provided one of the highlights of the tournament with a hole-in-one on the first round. Sophomore Brandon Kida tied for 72nd with a score of 228 (76-75-77).
Last Time Out
Utah finished 15th at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational last week at the Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic course in Bremerton, Wash. The squad posted a score of 907 (301-305-301), while Jonathon Thomas tied for 32nd with a mark of 221 (71-77-73). Engle tied for 50th with three identical rounds of 75 for a score of 225. Jack Maerki swung a 229 (75-77-77) to tie for 60th, while Bankhead tied for 68th with a score of 234 (82-76-76). Myles Sullivan placed 72nd with a mark of 246 (80-89-77).
