SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team dominated New Mexico State University 7-0 on Saturday in a home dual match.

No. 45 Zach Ganger led the Utes on Saturday against the Aggies playing at the No. 1 slot. The Ute faced Roman Stoisavljevic for a 6-2, 6-0 domination in Ganger's favor. Miron Mann made a comeback for the Utes in the singles line up on Saturday playing in the No. 3 slot. Facing Eduardo Salas from NMSU, Mann stepped in to reclaim his court 6-1, 6-2 over the Aggie.

Wes Hancock, a sophomore, pulled out a big win on Saturday over senior Stjepan Beg from NMSU. After struggling through the first set, Hancock came back to take the second set 6-4. In the tie breaker, the Ute and Aggie were worn down, but Hancock pulled himself together to finish Beg off 6-7, 6-4 (10-7).

"Miron played well in his first match back again and it was nice to see him back at close to full speed," states Assistant Coach Graeme Cox. "Wes had a tough fighting win against a very experienced player and he really had to dig deep to pull it out. It might be said that he looked for some of the `Nick Coutts Hard Cap' fighting spirit to get himself over the line."

The Utah freshman played well on Saturday against the Aggies as well. Jason Smits faced junior Jeff Pfeifer at the No. 5 slot. Smits hit a 6-2, 6-3 win over the veteran Aggie. Timmy Allin faced Luka Stupar at the No. 6 slot in a 6-1, 6-2 battle ending in the Utes' favor. Othman Ouariti finished off for the Utes at the No. 4 slot playing Alejandro DeMucha. The Ute took the match 6-3, 6-3 ending the overall match for Utah (7-0). The Utes are now 4-0 for the season.

"Once again we played a little better than what we have been. It was good to win at home again and all of our new players are starting to feel a little more comfortable here at Eccles Tennis Center," states Cox.
