Men's Tennis Drop Match to San Diego State, 6-1

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah dropped its fourth straight match on Saturday, losing to San Diego State, 6-1. With the loss, the Utes went 0-2 at the UNLV weekend tournament. Utah's record now falls to 7-7 on the year, and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Ben Coates is credited with earning Utah's one point, as he defeated San Diego State's No. 1 seed Bobby Herdina, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1. At the No. 2 slot, Paul McPherson fell to Alex Waske, 6-1, 6-1 and Phil Rodrigue was defeated by Nguey Lay, 4-6, 5-7. San Diego State's Frank Morgan handled No. 4 seed Alex Buxton, 6- 3, 6-3 and Kolo Rosenthal downed Ute Ryan Snow, 6-1, 6-4. The final singles match was won by Steve Adamson, who beat Adam Eke, 6-2, 6-4.

The Utes look forward to traveling to California to play four matches in five days. On Mar. 20, Utah will play Southern California, Pepperdine on Mar. 21, San Diego State on Mar. 23 and Dartmouth on Mar. 24.
