SEATTLE, Wash – The University of Utah men's tennis team (11-10, 0-5 Pac-12) dropped a 5-2 decision to 25th-ranked Washington (13-7, 1-4 Pac-12) Friday at the Bill Quillian Stadium. No. 123 junior Dmytro Mamedov and N0. 124 freshman Rafael Davidian each netted individual wins in singles play to post the Utes' two points.

In doubles play, sophomore Alejandro Medinilla and freshman Ace Matias were defeated by Marton Bots and Matt Stith, 8-2, at the No. 2 spot.

Senior Benito Suriano and Mamedov were then defeated by Kyle McMorrow and Emmett Egger, 8-6, at the top spot, giving the Huskies the doubles point. Washington captured another win at the No. 3 position when sophomore Devin Lane and freshman Slim Hamza suffered a tight 7-6(5) loss to Jeff Hawke and Max Manthou.

Going into singles play with the score at 1-0, Washington quickly earned a second point when Suriano was downed by 18th-ranked McMorrow, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot. Lane then dropped a 7-6(4), 6-0 decision to Manthou at the fifth spot, making the score 3-0 in favor of the Huskies.

At the No. 6 position, Medinilla fell to Nicholas Kamisar, 6-3, 6-2, giving Washington the match deciding point at 4-0. No. 123 Mamedov then managed Utah's first point from the No. 2 position, topping Egger by a score of 7-6(7), 6-4.

After downing Bots 1-6 in the first set, 50th-ranked Hamza dropped the second set 6-2. He was ultimately unable to take the third set and suffered a hard-fought 7-6(6) loss, giving Washington their fifth point.

Despite dropping the first set 1-6 to Viktor Farkas, No. 124 Rafael Davidian managed to capture the second and third sets by identical scores of 6-4 to net the Utes' second victory from the No. 4 position, making the final score 5-2.

The Utes next travel to Eugene, Ore., to face the 66th-ranked Oregon Ducks at the Student Tennis Center, Sunday at 10 a.m. MT.
