Fifth-Seeded Utah Men's Tennis Blanked by Third-Seeded Cal

OJAI, Calif. - The 57th-ranked University of Utah men's tennis team was shut out by third-seeded California, 4-0, Thursday at the Pac-12 Championships at Libbey Park.

The Golden Bears quickly went up 1-0 early on in the match as they nabbed the doubles point with victories at the first and second positions.

In singles action, senior Ben Tasevac was defeated by Campbell Johnson, 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 2 slot, while junior Slim Hamza lost to Ben McLachlan at the top position, 6-3, 6-2. Cal then clinched the match with a fourth win when junior Cedric Willems fell to Andre Goransson at the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 6-2.

The Utes next appear at the NCAA Regionals, March 9-10.
