SALT LAKE CITY - Zach Ganger and Emily Kwok from the University of Utah's tennis teams have been name Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. This is the fourth time in Ganger's career and Kwok's first.

104th ranked Ganger, a senior from Jacksonville, Fla., has won eight straight matches as he heads into the 2008 MWC Men's Tennis Championship. At the No. 1 slot, he earned a sharp 6-2, 6-1 victory over Philip Therp from Santa Barbara to end the regular season with a 26-8 overall record. During the previous weekend, the Ute tabbed two victories over ranked conference opponents in a 7-5, 7-6 (2) defeat of UNLV's Elliot Wronski (No. 98) and a 6-4, 6-1 win over TCU's Cosmin Cotet (No. 36). In doubles play, Ganger and partner Miron Mann have teamed up at the top position since dual matches started in January to compile a 16-4 record. The duo went undefeated in league matches and have also won their last eight matches on the doubles court.

Kwok, a native to Richmond, B.C., played a big upset last weekend against 112th ranked Kristina Doerr of BYU at the No. 2 spot. The Ute executed a 6-2, 6-4 match to aide the Utes in their 6-1 victory over the Cougars. Kwok finished out the regular season with a 15-11 singles record. In doubles play, Kwok and Elizabeth Ferris earned an 8-6 win over BYU's Anastasia Surkova and Elizaveta Ezhova at the top spot last week. Since teaming up in January, the Ute duo has compiled a 17-4 doubles record. Overall Kwok is 21-11 in doubles play.
