SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's and women's tennis teams have each placed three student-athletes on their respective Pac-12 All-Academic Teams.
Earning first-team honors on the women's side was sophomore Callie Craig, who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA . Receiving Honorable Mention nods were senior Anastasia Putilina and sophomore Lucia Kovarcikova.
"I am really proud of the performance of these student-athletes in the classroom and on the court," said women's head coach Mat Iandolo. "A special congratulations to Callie as well. No one works harder and is more dedicated to school and to her team."
From the men's squad, junior Dmytro Mamedov was a second-team selection as he posted a 3.38 GPA as a Parks, Recreation and Tourism major. Honorable Mention status was awarded to senior Benito Suriano and sophomore Alejandro Medinilla.
"Congratulations to Dima, Benito and Alejandro," said men's head coach F.D. Robbins. "They have worked very hard on the court and certainly in the classroom as well. It is great for them and for our program that they have been rewarded for their hard work."
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
