Daron Park is in his third season as an assistant coach at Utah. His duties include serving as the primary position coach for perimeter players, coordination of team and individual defensive strategies, assistance in recruiting efforts, scouting, game preparation and administrative responsibilities.
Park came to Utah after spending five years at Salt Lake City's Westminster College.
At Westminster, Park most recently served as the head women's basketball coach, men's and women's golf coach and sports information director. He spent his first season at Westminster as an assistant men's basketball coach. In his four years leading the Lady Griffins, Park compiled a 49-69 record. He produced 30 academic all-conference and eight Academic All-America honorees at Westminster. In 2003-04, his team led the conference in field-goal percentage, had two all-conference picks and the newcomer of the year.
In 1989-90 Park served as manager for the Idaho men's team. He then transferred to Montana State, where he was a manager from 1990-94. He earned a bachelor's degree in health enhancement from MSU in 1994. Park is a 1989 graduate of Great Falls (Mont.) High School.
Park began his coaching career at Valley High School in Las Vegas. As the junior varsity coach, he compiled a 43-24 record. He also served as an assistant coach for the varsity squad, which was 61-27 during his tenure. Valley High won a zone championship in 1997 and a state title in 1998.
Park and his wife Laura reside in Salt Lake City with their daughter Rylee (6) and son Dillon (2).
