Women's Basketball - Utah vs. Montana Quotes

Lana Sitterud
On the defensive pressure
"Our press started working a little bit and we turned it on defensively. I think we caused 24 turnovers on their end, so that was huge for us. We haven't been doing as good a job on defense this year and that definitely was our focus tonight."

"We switched things up defensively. That was our game plan, to kind of keep them on their toes and keep us mentally there 100 percent of the time and it worked"

On her six steals
"That was one of my goals coming into the game, to get five steals. I knew if I applied ball pressure tonight that it might turn into getting some steals."

On getting ready for conference play
"We work hard, and of course we have a bunch of young players, but they're excited and they don't know exactly what to expect. Hopefully the upperclassmen will be leaders and get us ready."

Head Coach Elaine Elliot
On the defensive pressure
"We just tried to keep them a little off balance because they're just real good, real disciplined. I respect what they do and we didn't want them to get comfortable."

On her team's progress
"Our goal is to just keep moving forward. We don't want slippage. I want them to be as enthusiastic and as hard-working, as dedicated and as disciplined and focused as they were the first day when it was easy. It's hard to do that throughout the course of the season. That's a big challenge for a young team, but that is what we are trying to get accomplished."

"We felt we needed to use these last three (non-conference) games to make some decisions on some positions and we've done that. Jessica Perry is an example. We've been committed to getting her on the floor and giving the freshmen some time."
