BOULDER, Colo. - The University of Utah women's basketball team fell 61-45 at Colorado in a Pac-12 Conference matchup on Sunday in the Coors Events Center.
Utah (10-11, 3-7 Pac-12) received an 11-point performance from sophomore point guard Danielle Rodriguez, which was her 12th double-digit-point game of the season.
Junior guard Cheyenne Wilson contributed nine points and four rebounds.
Freshman forward Emily Potter tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds to go with four points and a pair of blocked shots.
Freshman guard Malia Nawahine tied her career high with five rebounds and also scored seven points off a 3-of-4 shooting performance from the floor. All seven of Nawahine's points came in the second half. Senior forward Michelle Plouffe scored seven points, corralled four rebounds and came up with a game-high three steals.
Colorado scored six of the first eight points of the contest with a Plouffe steal and coast-to-coast lay-in followed by a Rodriguez 3-pointer bringing Utah within one (6-5). The Buffaloes stretched out to a seven-point lead (12-5), but five straight Ute points brought Utah within two (12-10). CU responded by going on a 13-1 run to build a 17-point lead (33-16) heading into halftime. Rodriguez paced the Ute offense with six points in the opening 20 minutes.
CU extended to a 20-point margin (38-18) early in the second half. Utah then strung together a 10-4 run to pull within 13 (44-31), but could get no closer. Along with Nawahine's team-high seven points in the second frame, Wilson had six to go with five from Plouffe.
