No. 20 Utes Post Strong First Half to Down Wyoming

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team scored the first 10 points of the game and pulled away to a 15-point halftime lead to cruise to a 75-62 win Thursday night over Western Athletic Conference rival Wyoming at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Julie Krommenhoek led the Utes with a game-high 23 points, converting on 7-of-15 shots overall and went 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Angie Thill had 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds.Senior point guard Alli Bills posted a game-high eight assists, eight points and eight boards. Courtney Stapp led the Cowgirls with 16 points.

Heather Allen and Rebecca Tomlin added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Utah (18-3, 8-3 WAC) scorched the nets, shooting 8-of-16 from three-point range and 94.4 percent from the free throw line, making 17-of-18 attempts. The Utes, who led 39-24 at halftime, outshot Wyoming (8-14, 4-8 WAC) 51.9 to 34.8 percent in the first half and 45.5 to 38.5 percent for the contest.

Utah led by as many as 19 points (31-12) at the 7:00 mark in the first half. Thill opened the second half with a three-pointer to give Utah an 18-point lead. Wyoming got back within single digits twice the rest of the way; the last time (71-62) with 27 seconds to play.
