SALT LAKE CITY - With a big first-half lead, the Utah women's basketball team defeated Oregon, 65-47 on Saturday evening to close out the regular season.

Michelle Plouffe had 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Taryn Wicijowski also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Iwalani Rodrigues scored 19 points and had three steals.

Although Oregon took an eight-point lead early, 18-10, the Utes were buoyed by a 15-0 run over a 4:40 stretch late in the first half to take a seven-point lead, 25-18. The Ducks had just one field goal in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Utah led by nine at halftime, 29-20. Plouffe had 14 points at the break.

The Utes steadily pulled away in the second half, going up by as many as 23 points.

"I'm really proud of my team," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "I said this after the Oregon State win but it's even more true today. Win or lose, no one in this building thought we had a chance to win on Thursday night and no one thought we would win today except for our group, and they just hung together. We've managed to put together something I'm really proud of. I know we haven't won a championship, but I'm really proud of what these kids have done."

Utah scored 13 points off turnovers, 12 second-chance points and had 22 points in the paint.

"[Oregon] wants to play fast, and it's really hard to do that at elevation, especially on the second night," Levrets said. "Our goal was to make them work in the shot clock on the defensive end of the floor. If we took an early shot I was ok with that as long as they didn't get early ones back on the other end. They want to score early, and if they don't it makes them work harder, and offensively it's tough on them. That was our plan and our kids executed it perfectly."

Utah celebrated senior day with a pregame ceremony for Janita Badon. Badon, who has missed the last three games with a knee injury, briefly checked in late in the contest.

The Pac-12 Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 7, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Utah will take on Colorado at 5:00 p.m. PT in the first round.
