SALT LAKE CITY - Four players scored in double figures as the Utah women's basketball team defeated Concordia (Ore.), 90-36, on Thursday in exhibition.

Iwalani Rodrigues scored 21 points while Taryn Wicijowski had 19 points and seven rebounds. Michelle Plouffe tallied 12 points, a team-high 19 rebounds and had five assists and five steals. Freshman Danielle Rodriguez had 11 points, earning the start at point guard for the Utes.

Utah scored 56 points in the paint and shot 45-percent from the floor. Concordia, which is in the NAIA, had 20 turnovers and scored just 14 points in the second half.

"I loved our effort," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "We didn't shoot the ball particularly well. We missed a lot of easy ones, but we played hard. I don't know if that was visible, but one of the things I tell our kids is offensively, sometimes [the ball] just doesn't go in. What you can control is your effort. If people walk out of here after watching us play, I want them to say, that team plays their butts off. That's our goal, and then the offensive end will take care of itself as we progress."

The Utes quickly took control in the first half, leading 19-7 over the first five minutes and pulling out to a 29-14 lead over 10 minutes.

Concordia was held to just two points over the final six minutes of the first half, allowing Utah to take a 51-22 lead into halftime. Wicijowski had 15 points in the first half, while Rodrigues tallied nine. Plouffe had nine rebounds and five assists. The Utes shot 45-percent from the floor in the first half.

Utah opens its season on the road at Denver on Saturday, Nov. 10.
