SALT LAKE CITY -- Julie Krommenhoek scored a game-high 23 points to lead 14th-ranked Utah to a 75-49 win over UNLV in Western Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

The win, pushing Utah's record to 7-0 in the WAC and 16-0 overall, broke the second-longest winning streak in school history. The Lady Rebels fell to 2-16 and 1-6 in the WAC.

Krommenhoek went 9-of-14 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the arc in 34 minutes. Angie Thill shot 6-of-12 from the field for 13 points in 29 minutes. Alli Bills scored 11 points, dished out eight assists and had seven rebounds and four assists. Amy Alcorn tossed in eight points.

Teneisha Gossett and Liz Wolfe led UNLV with nine points. Wolfe also had a game-high 13 rebounds. Utah outshot the Lady Rebels 50.8 to 37.0 percent and had a 35 to 33 advantage on the boards.

UNLV played with the Utes early and led, 24-22, with 4:51 remaining in the first half. Utah then scored 13 unanswered points to end the first 20 minutes of play.

The Utes, who had a 55.6 to 31.0 percent field goal shooting advantage in the second half, outscored the Lady Rebels 40-25 in the second half. Leading 49-35 with 12:32 remaining, Utah went on an 11-2 run over the next 3:16, capped off by back-to-back three-pointers by Krommenhoek, to pull away 60-37.

"Everybody keeps making a big deal over us allowing teams to play with us early," said Ute head coach Elaine Elliott. "It's a 40 minute game and our team plays that way. This is a very intelligent team. Over the course of the game our kids figure out what they need to do to beat a team, and then they do it.

"We really turned up the defence in the second half," Elliott continued. "Alli and our post players were all over the place."

The Utes hit the road for games against two teams right behind them in the WAC Mountain Division next week. Utah plays at New Mexico on Thursday and UTEP on Saturday.
