EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Kanequa Chancellor scored 15 of her game-high 20 points in the second half Saturday, leading Texas-El Paso to a 50-46 victory over No. 11 Utah.
UTEP (12-7, 7-2) tied Utah (16-2, 7-2) for first place in the Western Athletic Conference's Mountain Division with the victory. Texas-El Paso beat the Utes for only the second time in 28 meetings.
The Utes led 26-23 with 14:38 remaining in the game. Chancellor then scored 13 points in a 19-7 run that put the Miners ahead for good at 42-33 with 4:54 to go.
Utah lost its second straight game, having fallen 76-59 at New Mexico on Thursday.
Kiana Taylor had 10 points and eight rebounds for UTEP. Chancellor also had 13 rebounds.
Julie Krommenhoek, who averages 20.8 points, was held to only 11 on 3-of-16 shooting for Utah.
The Miners led 19-17 after a first half that saw poor shooting by both teams. UTEP was 7-of-33 in the first half, while Utah was 5-of-22 with nine turnovers.
