SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team returns to the road this weekend to play Arizona and Arizona State, beginning on Thursday, Jan. 19.

The Utes (8-8, 1-4 Pac-12) are coming off tough losses to fourth-ranked Stanford and a close game against California that came down to the final minute.

"I'm really pleased with how hard we're playing," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "Due to injury, we're playing kids that we didn't anticipate playing right now. I love our young players, and we have a lot of young players. I like where we are going with what we have and who we've recruited. I told our team earlier in the year - I think that every night we have a chance to win. We just have to figure out how to put 40 full minutes together, and we have not done that yet in a conference game. Once we do, we feel like we will be a good basketball team, but that has to happen."

Arizona is 13-4 and 2-3 in the Pac-12. The Wildcats are coming off a split of their last two games, defeating Oregon but falling by two at Oregon State.

Arizona has the best three-point shooting team in the Pac-12, hitting 37.7 percent from behind the arc.

Utah holds a 10-2 advantage all-time against Arizona. The two teams were both members of the Intermountain Athletic Conference before Arizona moved to the Pac-10. Utah and Arizona have not met since a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006, with Utah winning both games by a single digit margin.

Utah's last trip to Tucson was in 2006, when Arizona hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Utes would win both of their games to move into the regional round, eventually reaching the Elite Eight.

Arizona State is 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference. After winning their first Pac-12 game of the season against Arizona, the Sun Devils dropped their next three before defeating Oregon in their last game.

On paper, the game looks to be a low-scoring defensive battle. Utah and ASU both rank towards the top of the league in scoring defense, while ranking in the lower half of the league in scoring offense.

Arizona State was also an IAC member before going to the Pac-10. The Utes hold a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series against the Sun Devils. The last meeting was in the NCAA tournament in 2006, when Utah defeated ASU 86-65 during their Elite Eight run.
