SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team celebrates the Power of Pink against No. 24 TCU on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7:00 p.m., to begin its second round of Mountain West Conference games. The first 1,000 fans will receive pink hats and fans who wear pink get in for free. The game will be televised live on CBSC with radio available at KNRS 570 AM.
Kalee Whipple was named the MWC Player of the Week on Monday after leading Utah to a 68-65 victory at Colorado State on Feb. 3. Whipple's three-point shot tied the score at 63-63 with 2:42 left and she hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds to clinch the win. Taryn Wicijowski scored 22 points and Halie Sawyer had three key rebounds in the final minutes.
TCU, ranked No. 24 in the latest Associated Press poll, leads the MWC with a 7-2 conference record. Helena Sverrisdottier leads the MWC with 5.0 assists per game with 13.4 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. Emily Carter leads the conference in free-throw percentage (.860) and three-point field goal percentage (.442).
Utah fell at TCU back on Jan. 9, 62-41. Wicijowski (16 points) and Janita Badon (11 points) each scored in double figures for Utah while Carter (14 points) and Starr Crawford (15 points) were also in double figure scoring.
