COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah women's basketball player Michelle Plouffe has been named as the 2010-11 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, as three Utes earned all-conference honors on Monday. Junior Janita Badon and sophomore Iwalani Rodrigues were also selected.

Plouffe, who was also a second-team selection, is Utah's second-straight Freshman of the Year pick. Taryn Wicijowski earned the award last season. Rodrigues was also named to the second team, while Badon was selected to the All-Defensive team in addition to earning honorable mention all-conference accolades.

Plouffe leads all freshman in the conference with 13.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while ranking in the top 10 in both categories. Plouffe is also ranked sixth in the MWC in blocked shots (1.3). She is third in the conference with seven double-doubles.

Rodrigues is ranked fifth nationally in three-point field goals per game (3.1) while ranking seventh in three-point field goal percentage (44.9). She leads the conference in both categories and is ranked sixth in the MWC with 14.9 points per game.

Badon leads the MWC in steals (2.5 per game) and ranks second in assists (5.7 per game). She is in the top 20 nationally in assists per game. Badon is averaging 12.6 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game. She has three double-doubles this season, including just missing a triple-double against Air Force.

"I am really happy for all of our players who were honored as part of the all conference teams," interim head coach Anthony Levrets said. "We have a really good young group of players who have had a good year, and I am really excited for them. It's truly an honor to be part of an all-conference team in a conference that is this good."
