LAS VEGAS - The Utah women's basketball team continues at the MWC Tournament against New Mexico on Wednesday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m. PT (5:30 MT). The game will be televised live on The Mtn. with radio available at KALL 700 AM.
Utah won its opening round game against Air Force, 63-40, to reach 20 wins in a season for the 20th time in head coach Elaine Elliott's career. Taryn Wicijowski tied her career high with 24 points while Kalee Whipple had her seventh double-double of the year with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
New Mexico is 18-11 on the season and went 9-7 in conference action. The Lobos are the fifth seed in the tournament and defeated Colorado State, 67-54, in the first round. Amy Beggin was a first-team All-MWC selection, averaging 13.2 points per game with an .828 free-throw percentage. Jessica Kielpinski leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game.
Utah won both games of the regular season meetings, 46-40 in Utah on Jan. 12 and 52-49 in New Mexico on Feb. 13. The last nine games between the two teams have all been decided by less than 10 points with Utah on a seven-game winning streak.
