WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - For the second-straight year, members of the Utah women's basketball team took three of the five first-team spots on the Pac-12 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.
Junior forward Taryn Wicijowski, senior guard Rachel Messer and senior forward Chelsea Bridgewater were all named to the first team for the second-straight season. In addition, junior forward Michelle Plouffe and sophomore guard Ciera Dunbar were honorable mention selections. Plouffe was also named honorable mention last season.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and either be a starter or a significant contributor.
Wicijowski has a 3.93 grade point average and is majoring in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry. Messer is majoring in management and has a 3.83 grade point average. Bridgewater is majoring in political science and psychology and has a 3.81 grade point average. Plouffe is majoring in communications while Dunbar is majoring in business administration.
