OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Utah senior forward Michelle Plouffe was one of 30 NCAA women's basketball student-athletes chosen as a candidate for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award.
Plouffe has excelled both on and off the court and has notable achievements in each of the four areas of excellence used as criteria for the award: community, classroom, character and competition. She was one of four student-athletes listed from the Pac-12 Conference.
"Michelle is the embodiment of the term student-athlete," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "For as good of a player that she is, she is an even better person in all phases of her life. She is one of the best leaders and teammates that we've ever had the privilege to coach and off the floor, she has a major presence in our community and in the local schools."
From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select 10 finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award in November. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.
