SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team hosts Big 10 opponent Michigan on Friday, Nov. 16, at 4:30 p.m. Radio is available on ESPN 700 AM or at www.espn700sports.com.
The contest is part of a doubleheader with the Utah men's basketball team, which plays Sacramento State at 7:00 p.m.
After narrowly losing to Michigan in Ann Arbor last year, Utah head coach Anthony Levrets is looking forward to the chance to face the Wolverines in Salt Lake City.
"I told our kids it's going to be big-girl basketball," Levrets said. "This will not be for the faint of heart. They are physical, we are physical. We felt like we should have won the game out there last year. I think it will be a fun game with two good teams going at it early in the year. I hope that everyone can come out and watch us play."
The Utes are 2-0 to start the season. Utah is coming off a 79-61 victory over Southern Utah after opening the year with a win over Denver. Taryn Wicijowski and Iwalani Rodrigues each scored 20 points in the win.
Michigan is 2-0 to start the season with victories over Detroit and Xavier. Four players are averaging in double figures through the first two games for Michigan, led by 17 points and 8.5 rebounds per game from Rachel Sheffer. Sheffer and Jenny Ryan earned All-Big 10 accolades last season. The Wolverines went 20-12 last season and earned their first NCAA Tournament bid since 2000-01.
The only meeting between the two teams was last season, when the Utes lost 55-50 in Ann Arbor on Nov. 17.
