Salt Lake Tribune: Plouffe leads Utah past UNLV

University of Utah senior forward Michelle Plouffe recently earned a spot on the Naismith Trophy Early Season Watch List.

Plouffe leads the Pac-12 with 9.8 defensive rebounds per game and is second in the league in rebounds with 11.8 per game. Showing why she is one of the most complete players in the Pac-12, Plouffe is also listed among the league leaders in seven other categories.

"This is another great recognition for Michelle," Utah Head Coach Anthony Levrets said. "Obviously, she is a very talented basketball player and these lists and honors recognize all of the hard work she has put in. She definitely has put in the time and effort to go with her talent."

In 34.5 minutes per game (which is eighth), Plouffe ranks sixth in scoring (20.3 points per game) and is tied for fifth in steals (2.3 per game). She is tied for 10th in the league in assists (3.5 per game) and tied for 14th in assist to turnover ratio (1.4, 14-10). The Edmonton, Alberta native is tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with an .846 percentage from the free throw line (11-13) and is tied for eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (.462, 6-13).

Plouffe registered her third double-double in four games this season, and also the 37th of her career, Tuesday at UNLV. She had game-high marks with 26 points and 11 rebounds after nailing five of her first five field goal attempts to start the game, including her first two 3-pointers.

Plouffe turned in 27 points and 12 rebounds to go with five assists on Nov. 15 against No. 15/12 Nebraska.

Also a Preseason All-American Third Team selection by The Sporting News and an NCAA Senior CLASS Award nominee, Plouffe has been on the Associated Press All-American Team as an honorable mention selection each of the last two seasons and is on pace to become the third player in Utah history to reach 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
