WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Utah women's basketball forward Taryn Wicijowski has been named the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2.
Wicijowski averaged 23.5 points per game, shot 69 percent from the floor, and pulled down 6.5 rebounds per game while leading Utah to a pair of wins over Utah State (92-64) and at Hawai'i (62-61). Wicijowski had 21 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and six assists in the blowout win against Utah State. She then netted a career-high 26 points against the Rainbow Wahine, tallying 12 points by halftime.
Wicijowski ranks second in the NCAA in field goal percentage, converting on 66.7 percent of her shooting attempts this season, while averaging 17.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Wicijowski's selection is the first Pac-12 honor of her career (she was selected Mountain West Conference Player of the Week as a freshman on Dec. 7, 2009) and Utah's second Pac-12 Player of the Week honor since the Utes joined the league last year. Michelle Plouffe was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Feb. 13, 2012.
The Utes are 7-0, their best start since 2000-01. Utah hosts in-state rival BYU on Saturday, Dec. 8.
