Plouffe Named espnW National Player of the Week

After scoring nine points in the second overtime during Saturday's win at BYU, Utah's senior forward Michelle Plouffe was named the espnW National Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Charlie Creme, Graham Hays, Michelle Smith and Mechelle Voepel each vote to determine the weekly recipient.

Plouffe posted team-high marks of 22.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game for the Utes in a pair of victories during in-state games last week. She also had seven steals (3.5 per game) and distributed five assists (2.5 per game) against Utah Valley and BYU.

Plouffe ended the game with a game-high 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go with three assists and three steals on Saturday at BYU. She was 10-of-12 at the free throw line and connected on two of her four 3-point attempts. She reached double-digits in points for the ninth time in nine games this season and has had 10 or more rebounds six times in 2013-14. She scored a team-high 21 points on Wednesday against Utah Valley and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and also recorded a season-high four steals.

Plouffe leads the Pac-12 with 8.4 defensive rebounds per game and second in the league in total rebounds at 11.4 per game. Showing why she is one of the most complete players in the Pac-12, Plouffe is listed among the league leaders in eight other categories. She is fourth in scoring (19.6 points per game), tied for fifth in steals (2.1 per game), sixth in minutes per game (33.9), seventh in free throw percentage (.830, 39-47), tied for 12th in offensive rebounds (3.0 per game), 13th in 3-point field goal percentage (.394, 13-33) and tied for 14th in offensive rebounds (3.0 per game). She was also tied for 15th in the Pac-12 with 3.2 assists per game.
