SALT LAKE CITY--
A week out from their season opener, the No. 6-ranked Utah gymnastics team is off to a record-setting start in the classroom. The team's 3.812 cumulative grade point average is a new single-semester GPA record for any Utah team. The gymnasts also posted the highest GPA of Utah's athletic teams in the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13.
Georgia Dabritz, Hailee Hansen, Kassandra Lopez and Tory Wilson all earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall term and were among 10 Ute gymnasts to make the Dean's List. The others were Breanna Hughes (3.936), Kailah Delaney (3.925), Becky Tutka (3.925), Nansy Damianova (3.88), Mary Beth Lofgren (3.88) and Haley Lange (3.785).
The Utes, who return everyone from last year's NCAA Championships' lineup, have a school-record nine All-Americans on their 2014 team. They open the season at home on Saturday, Jan. 11, hosting Brigham Young, Southern Utah and Boise State at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.
Heading into the first week of competition, the Utes have already broken the school record for season tickets with 6,898 sold. Season tickets and three-meet packages are on sale now at www.UtahUtes.com or by calling 801-581-UTIX.
