The No. 4-ranked Utah gymnastics team (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) hosts No. 8 UCLA (1-1, 1-0 Pac-12) on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. MT. It's the annual Blackout meet, when fans are encouraged to wear black attire, and also Residence Hall Association Night. The Utah-UCLA meet will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks with Jim Watson (play-by-play) and Amanda Borden (analyst) calling the action. Live scores can be found at UtahUtes.com.


Utah and UCLA are two of the most successful gymnastics programs in the nation. Utah has qualified for a record 38-straight national championships with 10 national titles (nine NCAA), while UCLA has made the championships 31 times and has six NCAA titles. Both teams have qualified into the Super Six 18 times in its 21-year history ... In the Pac-12 preseason coaches' poll, UCLA and Utah were picked to finish one-two by a 46-45 count in total points ... Utah leads the Bruins 22-2 in Salt Lake City. UCLA's last win in the Huntsman Center came at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, when the Bruins edged the Utes by five-hundredths of a point for the inaugural title (197.425-197.375). UCLA's other win fell in 2003 ... Utah has lost eight straight to the Bruins, dating back to a Jan. 7, 2011 win in Salt Lake City. See Series Shorts for more.


Utah coach Greg Marsden, in his 39th season, needs two victories to become the sport's first 1,000-win coach. He owns a 998-199-7 career record ... Official Utah Blackout gear is available for purchase at http://shop.utahutes.com ... The Utes have set a school record for season tickets, topping 7,000 for the first time. They drew 14,910 fans to their season opener on Jan. 11.


Utah is ranked fourth in the nation for the second-straight week and is No. 1 on vault with a 49.463 season average. The Utes are ranked second on floor (49.375) behind UCLA (49.413). Georgia Dabritz is ranked No. 2 on bars (9.925 average). See page 3 for complete ranking information.


Competition is still fierce for starting positions, especially on vault, floor and bars. Kailah Delaney scored a 9.825 on floor last week at Cal, while Haley Lange scored a 9.875 on vault and 9.775 on floor and Baely Rowe a 9.775 on bars. Other contenders to get promoted from exhibition to starter are Mary Beth Lofgren on vault and Georgia Dabritz on beam ... Against Cal in the past two seasons, Tory Wilson has scored a 10.0 and a 9.975 on vault ... There are a school-record nine All-Americans on Utah's roster ... Georgia Dabritz received the Utes' first Pac-12 weekly honor of the season on Jan. 14, when she was named the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week for her two victories in Utah's season-opener on Jan. 11.


Georgia Dabritz and Tory Wilson have been double winners in both meets ... Dabritz has 34 career victories, which leads the team ... Wilson, ranked No. 7 in the nation in the all-around for the second-straight week (39.425 averaeg), has won both all-around contests ... Ute winners: Dabritz (4), Wilson (4), Nansy Damianova (1), Kailah Delaney (1) and Corrie Lothrop (1) ... The Utes have completed 44-48 routines without a fall. Gymnasts without a fall are Tory Wilson (8-8), Georgia Dabritz (6-6), Lia Del Priore (4-4), Kailah Delaney (4-4), Becky Tutka (4-4), Breanna Hughes (3-3) and Hailee Hansen (2-2).

Senior Olivia Courtney, tied for first in the nation this week on vault, is an eight-time All-American and four-time Pac-12 individual champion (2011 vault and bars, 2012 vault, 2013 floor) ... Junior Samantha Peszek, ranked No. 1 this week on beam, won the NCAA balance beam title in 2011 and is a four-time All-American and 2008 Olympic silver medalist ... Sophomore Danusia Francis, currently ranked No. 2 on beam, made college gymnastics history against Florida by becoming the first gymnast to do a sideways aerial into a full-twisting dismount off the side of the beam.
