The No. 3 ranked Utah gymnasts (1-1) host Brigham Young (1-1) in the Deseret Duel on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. It is the annual Short People Appreciation Night and anyone measuring 5-feet and shorter will receive a free upper bowl ticket. Free live video and scores are available at UtahUtes.com. A delayed telecast will air on Sunday at 11 a.m. on ABC-4.


The Utes have sold over 6,400 season tickets, setting a new school record for gymnastics ... During its bye last week, Utah slipped one place to No. 3 in the national rankings behind co-leaders UCLA and Arkansas. The Utes moved up to No. 1 in the nation on both beam (49.138 average) and floor (49.313). Freshman Georgia Dabritz is ranked No. 1 on floor (9.938), while Stephanie McAllister ranks sixth on floor (9.888) and eighth in the all-around (39.388), and freshman Kailah Delaney is sixth on vault (9.913). See page 3 for complete national rankings ... In its first two meets, Utah has picked up seven individual victories led by DaBritz with three. McAllister has two wins (one all-around) and Kyndal Robarts and Delaney each have one victory ... Dabritz has won both floor titles to date: vs. UCLA (9.90) and Utah State (9.975) ... McAllister and Delaney were Utah's top all-around and vault finishers in the first two meets with both placing second vs. UCLA and first against USU in those categories ... McAllister and Robarts are tied for most career victories on this year's squad with 16 apiece.


Eleven of Utah's 15 team members have competed to count in the first two meets including all five freshmen. Three gymnasts have competed in exhibition, while Victoria Shanley has missed both meets with a foot injury ... Utah has hit 45-48 routines with this breakdown by class: seniors 18-19, juniors 0-0, sophomores 12-13, freshmen 15-16 ... Gymnasts without a fall are: Stephanie McAllister (8-8), Corrie Lothrop (8-8), Cortni Beers (4-4), Kassandra Lopez (4-4), Nansy Damianova (2-2), Kailah Delaney (2-2), Becky Tutka (2-2) and Tory Wilson (2-2) ... McAllister has hit 91 of her last 92 routines dating back to her sophomore season.


Utah reached 197 for the first time since the 2009 NCAA Championships in a 197.400-191.925 win over Utah State before a Huntsman Center crowd of 13,126 on Jan. 13. Stephanie McAllister (39.45) and Corrie Lothrop (39.30) finished one-two in the all-around. Georgia Dabritz became Utah's first two-event winner in a meet this season, capturing bars (9.95) and floor (9.975). Kyndal Robarts earned her first win of the season on beam (9.90) and Kailah Delaney earned her first career win on vault (9.925).
