WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- -
Utah sophomore gymnast Tory Wilson was voted the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week after winning the vault in Utah's victory over Arizona State last Friday. Wilson, who is ranked first in the nation on the event, claimed her fourth-straight vault victory by scoring a career-high 9.975.
She competed on three events in the meet, scoring a career-high 9.90 on floor to tie for second place and recording a 9.775 as Utah's leadoff beam performer.
It marks the second Pac-12 Specialist of the Week award this season for Wilson, who also won the award on Jan. 19. It is the fifth Pac-12 Specialist of the Week honor by a Ute in the school's two years as a conference member--with all five coming on the vault. Last year, Kyndal Robarts won it twice and Kailah Delaney once. Utah also has had two Pac-12 Gymnasts of the Year--Corrie Lothrop in 2012 and Georgia Dabritz this season.
The Utes host Cal this Saturday at 8 p.m. in Short People Appreciation Night. Anyone under 5-feet tall will receive a free seat in the upper bowl. It is also the annual autograph night with the Ute gymnasts.
