Georgia Dabritz is the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week after winning beam and floor with career highs vs. Cal.
Feb. 12, 2013
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- -
Utah sophomore gymnast Georgia Dabritz was voted the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week after scoring a 9.90 on beam and a 9.975 on floor to win both events in Utah's win over No. 23 California last Saturday. Both scores were career highs for Dabritz, who leads Utah in victories with nine.
It marks the second Pac-12 honor this season for the Newburyport, Mass., native, who was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 22. It is Utah's third Pac-12 Specialist of the Week award of 2013 and its second in a row: Sophomore Tory Wilson won it on Jan. 19 and Feb. 5. Wilson was nominated, but did not win, Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week after scoring a 10.0 on vault and winning the all-around on her first career attempt last Saturday.
Dabritz' Pac-12 award marks the first time a Ute has won the weekly specialist honor on an event other than the vault. The Utes have six total Pac-12 Specialist of the Week awards in their two years in the conference--five coming on vault and the other by Dabritz on beam and floor.
